Carol Davila University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Bucharest, Rumania is a state-run health sciences University. It is the largest institution of its kind in Romania with over 2.865 employees, 1.654 teachers and over 4.800 students. The University uses the facilities of over 20 clinical hospitals all over Bucharest.

Elias Emergency University Hospital is renowned for the high quality of the medical services it provides and for its personnel’s dedication and professionalism. The mission of the Research-Development Department of Elias Hospital is to conceive, develop and implement research projects in the newest areas involving human health, and to identify the best ways to put research’s results to act in medical practice.

Elias Rehabilitation Research Unit (ERRU) is represented by nine specialists in Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine (a PhD Senior Consultant University Professor, a PhD Student Senior Consultant Assistant Professor, a PhD Student Physical Therapist Assistant Professor, a PhD Senior Consultant and a PhD Student Researcher) and from other scientific areas (a Speech Therapist Psychologist and a Neurobiologist). Elias is united by their interest in using evidence based practice to reduce functional loss, impairment, disability and pain, to improve the individual’s capacity and performance in interaction with the environment, to enhance quality of life, in terms of evidence based rehabilitation medicine, with the use of necessary advanced rehabilitation technology. Primary areas of interest are: human motion and ergonomics, spasticity and pain, assistive technologies and robotics, biofeedback and sensing systems, balneology, health education and scientific education of young health care specialists.
